Great Beyond has a focus on Adventure and a Micro Focus on the environment and cultures we encounter. We as travelers and citizens of the world can have a profound impact and that can be either negative or positive. Of course we believe why be negative, when you can be positive or Great.  With that in mind, we take the following steps to ensure our travel footprint is as small as possible and with your help it can be practically nonexistent.

  • When you don’t request a catalog but talk to us instead, your flight is Carbon Neutral. We will purchase the credits to offset your flight!
  • We encourage light packing both for the environment and your back. It costs more and uses more energy to move more.  We have a detailed pack guide designed to help you keep your packing down to the minimum, and we keep plenty of emergency equipment and clothing available – we’ve got you covered.
  • We choose direct flights to reduce the worst part of plane emissions – takeoff and landing
  • We tread lightly by leaving the areas we explore in better condition than we found them, properly disposing of waste, minimizing the use of fire, and avoiding the spread of invasive species
  • We can all purchase full carbon offsets to lessen our impact on the environment so that all we impact is the cultures we visit – and we aim to make those positive too!

Be Green, Beyond GreenAs adventure travelers we tend to go off the beaten path and outside the sprawling cities and the farther we travel, the more we can do for our fellow men and women.  As a Great Beyond Adventeer, we hope you will be more than an adventurer and join us on an Adventeer Trip soon…. It’s the best for all of us!

What is an Adventeer?
Noun: An “Adventeer” is someone that believes in adventure and can be a volunteer before, after or during a Great Beyond Adventure.

No Green Washing here
Everyone’s heard the expression “whitewashing” — it’s defined as “a coordinated attempt to hide unpleasant facts, especially in a political context.”

“Greenwashing” is the same premise, but in an environmental context.

It’s greenwashing when a company or organization spends more time and money claiming to be “green” through advertising and marketing than actually implementing business practices that minimize environmental impact. It’s whitewashing, but with a green brush.

We take this seriously and you should as well. Please travel and do business with companies that care for the environment and not just themselves. We lead by example and ask for you and others to follow us, as it’s the only path to take and the only one that is truly sustainable.

We give a damn!
Forgetting the monetary cost of Adventure travel, it’s easy to fly around the world, eat, drink, be merry, take pictures of all that you encounter and fly home. At Great Beyond, we make it just as easy, but want to help the cultures and the environment along the way. We have to!

When we first started Great Beyond, we made a conscience choice to do all we can to minimize the impact of the adventure from beginning to end and we want you to join us in that effort.

Great Beyond has partnered with 1% for the Planet which means 1% of our gross profits, not our net, goes to companies that support the environment.

Travel happens, and while we can all see what’s Great Beyond the Adventure, we can also do our share to alleviate the stress it produces on our world.

Our Adventeers take it one step further and help the local communities that we visit. That can take the form of building a new school, fixing a water filtration system, providing supplies in order for them to be self sufficient in a number of ways.
We can make a difference and we should. We give a damn and our travelers do too!
